Does cataract surgery hurt?

No injections are involved.  Eye drops with IV Sedation make the experience quite tolerable.

Can I resume my normal activities after cataract surgery?

Generally there are few restrictions.  Eye drops as prescribed are necessary.

Can I drive home after cataract surgery?

After administration of any sedative, there should be no driving for at least 24 hours.

Can I take a shower or wash my hair after surgery?

It's safer to take a bath and not wash your hair until advised at the first post operative visit.

I've been told that I have glaucoma.  Will I go blind?

If glaucoma is not treated, vision will be lost.  Glaucoma is a thief in the night who steals your vision.

What is presbyopia and how is it treated?

Around age 40, people's eyes can't focus up close to read.  A special lens for close work or bifocals are needed.

I sometimes have black spots in front of my eyes.  What is it?  Should I worry?

This is a warning that the vitreous gel in the eye is changing.  An examination is needed.

I've been told I have macular degeneration.  Can it be treated?

Some forms of macular degeneration can be helped.  the individual condition must be evaluated.
